Career - Merchandise Displayers

A merchandise displayer plans and builds displays for retail stores and windows. They decide what merchandise will be displayed and how it will be displayed including the plan for the theme, lighting, colors and props. Merchandise displayers may use special software to design displays and create signs. Merchandise displayers may also do the following:

• Use tools to put together displays, some heavy lifting
• Work alone most of the time
• Need to have an artistic ability
• Will work with managers, advertising and sales staff to agree on displays
• Should be detail oriented 
• Opportunities to move up to supervision position
