Career Highlight

Advertising Salesperson

Advertising salespeople sell air time on radio and television stations. They also sell space in newspapers, magazines, and outdoor media like billboards. Salespeople give presentations to point out the advantages of advertising with their company. They answer questions about what type of media would be the best for the client based on their needs, target audience and budget. Salespeople take care of all the paperwork and communications necessary with their clients.

Graphic Designer

Graphic Designers create logos, advertisements, web pages, and product packaging using digital technology. They usually work as part of a team on a project. Deadlines are extremely important to graphic design as well as having knowledge of graphic design software like Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. A graphic designer should also be creative. Many graphic designers are self-taught, but to get a job you will need at least a bachelor's degree. Graphic designers could work for a large advertising firm with lots of other designers or for a company as the sole graphic designer.
