CTSO 1- DECA: History and Mission [LESSON]
DECA
History
DECA is an organization for students in High Schools and colleges around the globe. DECA has programs that focus on leadership development, academic competitions, educational programs, and community.
Between 1937 and 1942 cooperative programs in marketing education sprang up all over the country. Students in these classes began organizing marketing and distributive education clubs. These spontaneous efforts on the part of students and teachers occurred B simultaneously throughout the country. By 1946 a few states had officially organized state associations. In 1946 the United States Office of Education invited representatives from state committees to meet and form a national organization. The first national conference was held in Memphis, Tennessee in April 1947.
Mission
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management
