We are living in a digital age where communication is instantaneous and the electronic bridges between people of different languages and cultures are increasing. How much of your time do you spend on the Internet? Did you know that the second most common website language is German? In the cultural moment, you will discover some well known traditional songs in German. Do you know a traditional German dance? In this unit we will take a closer look at a traditional dance in southern Germany. What are 'da' and 'wo' compounds and how are they formed and used? How do I express Gerunds in German and what purpose do they serve? What do I need to observe when planning a trip to Germany, deciding where to go and what to see and making reservations through the internet? What is another famous poem from Germany?  The answers to these questions and more will be revealed in this unit.

Goal Statement

You will begin by learning terms related to the internet and the computer in German. In this unit's cultural moment, you will learn some popular songs in German and more about a traditional southern German dance called the Schuhplattler. Next, you will review the formation and use of da and wo compounds in German. You will also become familiar with the formation and use of Gerunds in German. You will learn what you need to observe when planning a trip to German. Finally, you will continue to improve your pronunciation and become familiar with one of the most famous poems in Germany.
