It's Friday night and you want to go out with your friends or maybe that special someone, how do you invite them out or how to respond when you are asked out? What do you say to them to keep the conversation moving? What if you were an exchange student in Germany and you wanted to make plans for a night out, what would you say? What if you don't really know this person and you want to find out more about them? This unit will walk you through how to make plans and carry on a conversation with someone you have invited out. You will learn some important phrases for keeping the conversation going and you will learn how to end the conversation and perhaps make plans for another meeting. You will also learn about irregular verbs in German and how they can be used. You will also find out more about different conjunctions that will help you to express complicated thoughts and ideas. Finally, you will learn a little bit more about Formula 1 racing and why it is so popular in Germany and what is Germany's role in the development of it.

Goal Statement
You will begin by learning the key vocabulary related to making plans for a date in Germany whether it be with a friend or someone special. You will become familiar with some important words and phrases used when inviting someone to dinner or an activity. You will also learn about how to keep the conversation going by asking about their interests and various other aspects of their lives or complimenting someone. You will learn some key expressions and how to use a variety of coordinating and subordinating conjunctions to express complex thoughts and ideas. You will also learn how to make future plans and will review how to express your likes and dislikes. You will learn about the simple Past Tense is formed and about irregular verbs in German and how they are used in various tenses. You will also learn about Formula 1 racing in Europe and the role that Germany has played in its development.
