GS - Goal Setting Overview
Goal Setting Overview
Introduction
Short Term, Long Term, and Personal Goals
Think back to a time when you set yourself a goal but didn't achieve it. Perhaps you planned to get fitter, or learn a new language.
You probably felt frustrated when you realized that you'd failed. But did you reflect on what went wrong, and think about how you could improve next time?
If you repeatedly miss the targets that you've set for yourself, you may feel stuck. For example, if you keep failing to achieve a fitness goal, you might get frustrated and not continue to workout to be healthy. In school, you might be assigned a large project, and need to break it down into smaller parts (goals) so that you will complete the assignment in time. If you do not complete your part in time, classmates may not want to work with you in the future.
In this module, you will learn about the importance of goal setting and the difference between short and long term goals. You will also write personal fitness goals that correlate with your Fitnessgram data.
