The final part of your FIT Georgia fitness assessment is the mile run. The mile run will help assess you

The Mile Run
Directions
On the start command you will begin your mile run.
Your parent or guardian will be timing you run. Keep running until you have reached I mile OR 13:01 minutes.
• Once you complete your run, your parent/guardian will record the time on your results sheet. You will need to walk to cool down.
Safety Considerations
Don't start out too fast.
Remember to dress for the weather when running outside.
Make sure to wear proper footwear.
Cool down properly after assessment (walk, stretch, etc.)

Before you complete your mile run to be recorded, you need to practice first.

  • Run, jog, or walk a mile and time yourself to practice.
  • After practicing, take a break or stretch.
  • Once you feel ready, start your real mile run.

 

Reflection

Aerobic fitness, which is measured by the mile run, is the single most important health indicator. Aerobic fitness reduces your risk for heart attack, stroke, and other diseases. It also allows you to do more activity.
