Reflect and Develop Strategies

Before you go on a trip, you use a map to make plans. The map helps you decide where you want to go. Assessing your own fitness is like using a map. You need to assess your current fitness, physical activity, and attitudes in order to help you learn where you need to improve. The new information that you learn in this microlesson will help you reflect and develop strategies to create a plan for lifelong fitness.

Challenge

Personal Family Survey Ask a family member, a friend, & an older adult the following questions:
1. How often do you exercise?
2. What is your favorite way to exercise?
3. Do you eat healthy?
4. How do you handle stress?
5. How do you motivate yourself to exercise?

After you interview the 3 people, reflect upon their responses – were they similar to your answers? Why do you think this is?

Did this change any of your answers?

Reflection

Hopefully, this microlesson challenged you to self-assess and reflect upon your current attitudes, fitness levels, and personal beliefs toward physical activity. Are you happy with your current assessment? What changes do you want to make so that you are physically fit throughout life?

What Is Your Takeaway?
