Capstone Project Part 2: Research and Learning for Project Proposal
✅ For this checkpoint, you will research a possible topic for your proposed amendment. You will respond to a series of questions and include at least 4-5 sources from your research to complete this task. Your project proposal should explain the purpose and possible impact of your proposed amendment on our society today.
The topic of adding a 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution has been widely explored from students to legislators. To help prepare for this Capstone proposal, research “What should be the 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution.”
One source you can use is Congress.gov. Links to an external site.
- In the search bar add, "Proposing an amendment":
- You will then be given a list of proposed amendments that legislators have put forth.
- For a compiled list of some proposed amendment topics, review Some Topics of Past Proposed Amendments in Congress. Links to an external site.
Now it is your turn. The Capstone project will give you the opportunity to experience the process in an attempt to add a new amendment to the United States Constitution.
- Can you think of a right or freedom that needs to be protected in the United States?
- Is there a new power or a limit on a power that needs to be added to the Constitution?
- Or is there a function of the Constitution that needs to be revised?
Spend time researching your specific interests with regard to adding an Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Your project proposal should explain the purpose and possible impact of your proposed amendment on our society today.
Consider key factors that helped many Constitutional Amendments make it through the ratification process.

For this ✅ Checkpoint, you will submit an interest that you have for your proposal. You will be working with this one topic quite a lot this semester, and you don’t want to get tired of it too early.
