Contrastive Structure

Contrastive structure is when you compare or contrast two nouns (persons, places, things, or ideas) by first setting them up slightly to the left and right area in front of you. Simply point to each one as you make comments about it.

Setting up a noun in space is called creating a referent. When you point to the referent, that is called referencing.
