Child of Deaf Adult

A CODA, or Child of Deaf Adult, is someone who was raised by one or more deaf parents. Statistically, 85% to 90% of deaf adults have hearing children. Though hearing, not deaf, CODAs are deeply entrenched in the Deaf community and straddle both the deaf and hearing worlds.

CODAs are identified by the sign MOTHER-FATHER, DEAF.

Simply fingerspelling the word CODA is also very common.
