Greetings

In ASL, it is customary to begin a meeting with a pleasant greeting!

When you greet a person, you can use an informal Hi.

For a more formal greeting, you will sign HELLO.

After the initial greeting, it is customary to ask, How are you?

One can also sign What's up. It can mean the same as How are you?

You may see responses of FINE.

WHAT'S UP can also mean, What is going on? In this case, one may respond NOTHING or SAME OLD.
