PRD - Abstract and Non-Objective Artworks (Lesson)
Abstract and Non-Objective Artworks
The evolution of drawing and painting from realistic artworks was slow and often not met with as much welcome as you might expect. Artists who wanted to show new ideas and concepts were met with opposition by critics and the public, much like musical artists are today who don't fit within the expectations of society. These artists were rebels and it is through their rebellion that more than a century of progressive artists have benefitted from their forward-thinking.
Task
- On a piece of paper, write down what you think non-objective and abstract art is before you watch the presentation below. Save this, because you will add this to your journal for this module.
- Immediately after the presentation, write what you have learned about these art forms and whether your opinion has changed. Remember, in art, all opinion is valid as long as you justify them.
Please watch the presentation below to learn more about non-objective and abstract art.
