POJ - History and Function of Journaling (Lesson)

History and Function of JournalingHorse sketch-Leonardo-1475-1519.png

The artistic process is how an artist develops and nurtures an idea that will eventually become a finished artwork. Journaling is an important component of the artistic process.

According to the Milan Art Institute, artists keep journals to hone their skills and techniques, to try out new media, to keep a visual journal of their experiences, develop ideas for projects, and to just "play."

We will study some journal pages from three famous historical artists to understand why and how artists journal. Through our study, we will understand this part of the artistic process better.

Please watch the presentation below to take a close look at the journals of Leonardo Da Vinci, Vincent Van Gogh, and Frida Kahlo. Be sure your volume is turned on!
