EAR - Seasons LESSON
Seasons
Throughout a given year, we have four different seasons: Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring. Each season has distinct temperatures and weather characteristics.
Season | Duration | Temperature | Weather |
---|---|---|---|
Summer | June to late August | Reaches 100O F or higher in certain regions | Some regions have rain and others are dry/hot. (Sunniest time of the year) |
Fall | September to late November | Cooler temperatures | Typically dry and windy. Tree leaves change color. |
Winter | December to late February or early March | Cold temperatures and freezing in some regions (January and February are usually the coldest winter months) | Some regions have snow and other experience cold rain. |
Spring | Mid-to-late March to end of May | Mild to warm temperatures | Most regions experience lots of rain. Greenery and flowers begin to appear. |
Seasons do not just give us different temperature and weather. The seasons also tell us when to plant crops or signal certain animals to have offspring. What exactly causes this cycle we call seasons? Go though the simulation below to learn more.
