Southeastern Asia
Introduction
South of China and east of India is a region of peninsulas and islands called Southeast Asia. With many mountain forming volcanoes and typhoons that often cause substantial damage, this area of the world is quite concerned about the impact that climate change is likely to have on their future.

Key Terms
- Archipelago - an island group or island chain.
- Biodiversity - is the variety of all life forms on Earth. This includes the different species and sub-species of plants, animals, and organisms.
- Economic Tiger - a country with rapid economic growth due to cheap labor, high technology, and aggressive exports.
- Indochina - mainland Southeast Asia.
- Infrastructure - the physical buildings, roads, and utilities of a country.
- Insular Region - a region of islands.
- Monsoons - the seasonal wind of the Indian Ocean and southern Asia which bring heavy rainfall in the summer.
- Ring of Fire - is an area in the Pacific Ocean where a large number of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur.
- Tsunami - a long high sea wave caused by an earthquake.
- Typhoon - a tropical storm in the region of the Indian or western Pacific Ocean.
- Urbanization - the process by which cities grow.
