In Spain, pharmacists are trained to give advice on over-the-counter medicine and many natural-homeopathic supplements for mild symptoms such as colds, stomach pain, sore throat, skin rashes, and many other mild conditions. They are trained to ask several questions regarding symptoms to help patients decide if a visit to the doctor is needed. Pharmacists will also recommend you visit the doctor if your symptoms get worse or persist for more than a few days.

Pharmacies in Spain work very differently than they do in the U.S. A. This means that a visit to a hospital or Primary Care Physician is not always needed and you can simply seek advice from a pharmacist if you believe that the condition that you have is mild.
