Gramática: hacer + que

The verb hacer is very versatile in Spanish. In this lesson, we'll learn about one of the uses of hacer, in which the verb is used to indicate how much time has passed. The formula is:

Spanish template:
- hace + a length of time + que + subject + present tense verb + rest of the sentence (if anything)
  - make it negative with no
Translation template:
- Subject + has been + action (-ing) + for + length of time + (add context where needed)

Ejemplo

Hace cinco años que Pablo juega al golf.
Pablo has been playing golf for five years.
