Capstone Project: Los preparativos, Geografía, Lugares de interés
A Capstone Project is an Inquiry-Based Student Interest, multi-step Project-Based Learning, or Real-World Solution Project. This course will have one Capstone project, with several checkpoints. The final product will be due at least two weeks before the end of the course and is a graded assignment. This is not an optional assignment.
Capstone Project: Reminder - What's the Goal?
You will create a PowerPoint presentation to promote interest in travel to an assigned Spanish-speaking country. The topics and themes students will write about promoting their country are included in each of the slide instructions.
The class goal is for students to be familiarized with all the Spanish-speaking countries of the world; your goal is to explore your assigned country to publicize it and educate your classmates who are possible client travelers to your country.

Important note: if you need extra slides to share the required contents for checkpoint 1, you may add as many slides as necessary.
Reminder: You should be updating your Bibliography slide citing your sources as you go. No specific format is required, just the sources you investigated to get your information. If you used a website, include the link!

You may design your title slide as you wish. To meet the minimum requirements, include the following information:

Content Slide 1: Los Preparativos (Preparing for the trip)
Select from the topics below and write a few things travelers need to know about the country before traveling. Below are some ideas to think about. (Select from the list below to complete the first slide.) Include images to support your script. Write at least five complete sentences minimum using vocabulary and grammar from GAVS level of courses you have taken thus far. Keep in mind the GAVS Academic Honesty Statement.
- Los Documentos (Travel documents required): el pasa porte, visa, y cuál otros documentos son necesario pare entrar a este país. ¿Va a necesitar el turista pasaporte, o visa? ¿Cómo vas a llegar al país: ¿por avión, por coche o por crucero (buque)? El aeropuerto de salida es el aeropuerto de “Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International”. Incluye imagen(es).
- Hotel – Hostel (hostal) – B&B (la posada) – What accommodations would you recommend to the traveler(s) and why? Or as a traveler, what would you prefer and why? ¿Dónde te vas a alojar? ¿Qué prefieres y por qué? Describe el alojamiento. ¿Cómo es? Incluye imagen(es).
- El Dinero: ¿Cómo se llama la moneda del país? ¿Cómo es el cambio de dinero? Incluye imagen(es) del dinero del país. ¿Dónde vas a cambiar el dinero? ¿Es necesario traer efectivo (cash)? ¿Cuánto? ¿Aceptan tarjeta de crédito, y cuáles? Incluye imagen(es).
- El Tiempo: ¿Qué tiempo hace? Describa el tiempo y el clima típico de este país. Use vocabulary learned in level 1 and level 2. Describe the current weather in Spanish in the city or cities you are planning to visit. Incluye imagen(es)
- El Gobierno: ¿Qué tipo de gobierno tiene el país? ¿Cómo se llama el presidente del país? ¿Cuánto tiempo hace que sea presidente(a) del país? Incluye imagen(es).
Content Slide 2:
- Geografía (Geography): Country name and location (North America, South America, Central America, Caribbean, Europe, Africa). Include a map of the country and an image of its flag. What is the capital of the country? What are the names and locations of 2 other important cities?
- Datos del País (Facts about the Country): Include three fun facts about your country that a traveler may not know or are not covered in the required topics. Include images. Write at least five complete sentences minimum In Spanish for this slide. Keep in mind the GAVS Academic Honesty Statement.
Content Slide 3:
- Lugares de interés (Places of interest): List and describe three places of interest or activities offered by the country should a tourist visit. Include image(s). What can visitors do during their visit? Por ejemplo: Yo hablo español. Ellos pueden practicar el español. ¿Qué haces en tu visita? ¿Qué hacen en su visita? ¿Cómo se llama(n) los lugares de interés? Yo _. Ellos __. Remember to include images that support your script.
- Belleza Natural (Natural Beauty): Many Spanish-speaking countries boast stunning landscapes. Whether it’s the Andes mountains, pristine beaches, lush rainforests, or historical ruins like Machu Picchu and Chichen Itza, tourists and travelers can enjoy breathtaking natural beauty. ¿Cómo se llama(n) el(los) lugar(es)? Describe cómo es el lugar. Remember to include images that support your script.
To complete this slide in Spanish you are required to write at least five complete sentences minimum and include a minimum of three conjugate verbs you have learned in either level 1 or level 2 course to describe your selections. You can meet the requirement by focusing on one of the two or including both on slide #3. Write at least five complete sentences minimum In Spanish for this slide. Submission
Now, save your PowerPoint on your computer and submit according to the due date. Make sure to save your document. You will continue to work on this presentation.

- Three Content Slides
- One bibliography slide (update this regularly as you create your capstone)
