This chapter's vocabulary uses words associated with food and restaurant expressions. Watch the videos below to learn these vocabulary words in context. Learning vocabulary in context means that you learn new words when you are reading or listening. You learn a new word by seeing how it is used in a sentence. It is highly recommended that you make a vocabulary list of the terms from both sections as well since you will be using them for projects and as a study guide for your chapter test. Some of this vocabulary may even be familiar! You will also find many cognates in this list.

No eating at your desk and no to-go meals: Did you know? Spaniards actually leave their desks during lunch time, and many for an hour or more at a time. Lunch is considered the most important meal of the day and usually involves having at least two courses, and not just a sandwich and a Coke as in the US. Everybody takes their time to eat and enjoy each meal of the day. Throughout the day you can see many people sitting at a café and enjoying a coffee or pastry. It is rare to see someone getting food and drinks to go.
