Equal Comparisons
When making equal comparisons in English we use the formula as + adjective/ adverb / noun or verb + as. In Spanish the formulas are a little different. Look over the formulae and then review the examples for each type.
Formula | Example |
---|---|
tan + adjective + como | Juana es tan alta como Rigoberta. Juana is as tall as Rigoberta. |
tan + adverb + como | Alberto trabaja tan rapidamente como Ramón. Alberto works as quickly as Ramón. |
tanto + noun + como | Isabel tiene tanto dinero como Óscar. Isable has as much money as Óscar. |
verb + tanto como | Paulo estudia tanto como Jorge. Paulo studies as much as Jorge. |
