El Futuro y El Condicional Comparison

On the last few pages, we've been discussing el condicional and el futuro - two tenses that both refer to events that have not yet happened. Let's take a brief moment to recap these two tenses and how they differ.

Future Vs. Conditional
Future (el futuro) Conditional (el condicional)

Used to tell what will happen, or what shall happen.

Expresses probability or possibility, and is usually translated with would, could, must have or probably.

Endings:

  • é
  • ás
  • á
  • emos
  • éis
  • án

Endings:

  • ía
  • ías
  • ía
  • íamos
  • íais
  • ían

Example:

  • Trabajaré este sábado.
    • I will work this Saturday.

Example:

  • Yo trabajaría este sábado.
    • I could work this Saturday.
