¡Hola y bienvenidos a la clase de Español III!

The expression in Spanish "La práctica hace al maestro" is the message this introduction wants to make; "Practice makes perfect". It applies perfectly to learning a foreign language. Although at first it is daunting, the more time you spend studying, being exposed to and using the Spanish language, the more fluent you'll become. As your language skills continue to develop in all areas: reading, writing, speaking, listening you'll experience improvement. Practice in these areas is the key to language learning. Becoming fluent in the language opens thousands of different opportunities for an individual: it enhances job skills and makes you more desirable in the job market, immerses you in the colorful array of cultures among the 21 Spanish-speaking nations, and allows you to communicate with the over 500 million individuals in the world who speak Spanish. With practice and dedication, your world will grow.

We are going to begin our Spanish III semester course with a review of some basic and essential material which should have been learned in your Spanish I and II courses. Students who took Spanish I or II with GAVS should be familiar with these topics from our curriculum. If you took Spanish I or II elsewhere, then you will be responsible in familiarizing yourself with this content. If you did not cover the material in your level 2 course, it will be your responsibility to review the material. Ask your teacher for help whenever necessary. Throughout this module on the sidebar, you will find links to several websites which will help reinforce previous acquired knowledge. Take notes as you review these Spanish 1 and 2 topics as you will be responsible for this material. Considering the time element, there is no way level III instructors can introduce/review level I and II material simultaneously along with level III content, and adequately cover the important new content expected to be covered in level III. Language learning is a building process and GAVS builds on prior knowledge as we move on into the third year of language study. It is strongly recommended that you refer to the sites and presentations provided throughout the semester as a way to incorporate previously learned material.

¡Buena suerte!
