Introduction to the Capstone Project
Introduction to the Capstone Project
A Capstone Project is an Inquiry-Based Student Interest, multi-step Project-Based Learning, or Real-World Solution Project. This course will have one Capstone project, with several checkpoints. The final product will be due at least two weeks before the end of the course and is a graded assignment. This is not an optional assignment.
Capstone Project Introduction
You get an all-expenses-paid trip to a Spanish speaking country of your choice. Your only job is to speak en español, follow the instructions provided for each day and create a social media post with your daily experiences.
The first step is for you to choose the country. Which one would you choose? Why would you choose this country and what are the places – cities you would choose to visit while you are there?
This project will be written entirely in Spanish. The purpose of this capstone project is for you to practice the vocabulary and grammar you are learning in this course. The use of outside resources such as AI and any online translators to complete this assignment is not allowed (see GAVS Academic Honesty Statement)
Here are the things you will write about your visit:
- Share two online resources (websites) you used for your research to learn about this country and places you will visit. You must use one website in English and one in Spanish only.
- Based on your research, describe the country. Write a few things this country offers such as mountains, beaches, historical places. (Keep in mind GAVS Academic Honesty Statement: You cannot copy-paste your sentences from a site. You must write your own sentences and use vocabulary and grammar learned in this course)
- Describe the city you arrived in and where you are staying.
- Describe the current weather in the place you are staying and tomorrow’s weather.
- Write a dialogue asking the hotel receptionist for directions.
- Write about the second city (place) you will visit in this country, how you get there and things you do during the visit.
- Write about a few fun activities you choose to do in the cities you visit.
You are not completing the entire project right now; this is just the introduction.
Your first submission/checkpoint will happen later in the course. For now, all you must do is begin thinking and researching about the country and place you will choose for your project.
You have 21 countries to choose from. Begin your research, have fun, and dream about your future trip!
