Evidence

Propaganda: An extreme form of persuasion intended to prejudice and incite the reader or listener to action either for or against a particular cause or position, usually by means of a one-sided argument or an appeal to the emotions.

The stakes associated with global warming are very high. On one hand, these changes threaten our very existence and the health of the planet. On the other hand, the global energy industry, as well as national and international economies, are at risk of the costs of fixing this problem. Here lies a dilemma that has many nuances and gray areas. Propaganda always tries to provide a simple message. Unlike valid persuasive writing, propaganda avoids acknowledgment of the validity of opposing viewpoints.

The language surrounding global warming is fraught with connotations. The inherent argument is vast and the stakes are so high that the discussion often becomes polarized into propaganda.
