HOM: Overview

Homestay

Home staying with a Japanese family you do not know can be intimidating, but it can be one of the best memories. All the things you learned in your Japanese classes seem to be forgotten completely at first, but then they all come together as if the light came on. In this module, we will pretend that you are home staying with a Japanese family and will talk about family, pets, school, town, food and beverages. In other words, we will go over many things you have learned and expand your real life skills.

Essential Questions:

  • How do you describe your town?
  • Can you talk about family and pets?
  • Can you tell the differences between formal and informal speech?
  • Can you follow simple "How to" instructions in Japanese?
  • Can you remember how to read and write in katakana?
