FTD: Overview

Favorite Things to Do

If you had two hours of free time, what would you do? Would you play sports? Would you talk on the phone with your best friend? Would you finish reading a novel you hadn't finished? Or would you play a video game you hadn't beaten? We all have things we would rather do other than working and studying. In this module, you will learn to talk about hobbies and interests. You may be surprised to find an unusual hobby so many Japanese people would do if they had some free time.

Essential Questions:

  • How do you describe a sequence of daily activities and weekend activities?
  • How do you ask and tell about hobbies and interests?
  • Can you talk about hobbies and interests with more detail?
  • Can you write an introduction of yourself to a pen pal in Japan?
  • Can you read the kanji 何 今 私 火 水 金 土?
