CUR: Overview

Current Activities

Imagine yourself starting a conversation with a Japanese lady. You give the perfect self-introduction you learned in Japanese I and added a few more sentences explaining the subjects you study at school and the Japanese food you like to eat. Now this Japanese lady is very impressed with you and compliments you on your Japanese skills, so you reply with a big smile on your face, "Thank you. I studied very hard." The next moment, she looks at you very strangely. What went wrong? In this module, you will find out how to give and receive compliments in Japanese style.

Essential Questions:

  • How do you ask and tell how long one has done something?
  • How do you ask someone to speak slowly?
  • Can you give and receive compliments appropriately?
  • Can you talk about what someone is doing now?
  • Can you talk about what someone was doing at a certain time?
  • Can you write the kanji 月 日 木 本 人 山 川 大 and 小?
