Time (Repaso)
Numbers (repaso)
First, here is a quick repaso of numbers 0-30. You will need to use these in order to tell time.
Time (repaso)
You have already learned to tell time, so this is a repaso because this information can be very useful in talking about your day at school.
¿Qué hora es? = What time is it?
- Son las ___________.
- Es la ___________.
"Son las" is used for most times of day. "Es la" is only used for times between 12:31 and 1:29.
Additional terms to remember:
- Y = and
- Menos = minus
- Media = 30
- Cuarto = 15
Consider the image below. For times on the right-hand side of the clock, you will use "Son las" or "Es la" to give the hour and then use "y" to add the minutes. For times on the left-hand side of the clock, you will use "Son las" or "Es la" and skip ahead to the next hour followed by "menos" to subtract the minutes.
Here are a few examples:
- 10:15 = Son las diez y cuarto.
- 10:45 = Son las once menos cuarto.
Read the passage below to see how these times are used in the context of your daily schedule at school and test your understanding by answering, on another sheet of paper, the questions that follow.
