Introduction

Graphics are everywhere around us: magazines, newspapers, posters, tv, Internet. They are literally everywhere. Creating graphics is a task that digital designers undertake on a regular basis. Earlier in this course we discussed the principles and elements of digital design. In this unit, we will apply these features to graphics design. Or, more specifically, to the design of graphics. While there are many programs on the market that allow users to create graphics, we will use Inkscape, an open source program, for this purpose.

How do graphic elements differ for print and online media?
How does resolution affect the appearance of an image?
What image file types should be used when creating a webpage?
