Kanji Review and Speaking-Listening Activity
Let's review the words, phrases, and kanji characters you learned in the Lesson 49a video. So far, you have learned kanji for person 人 , for month 月 , and for day 日 . In this lesson, you are introduced to several more. But not all of them are new. Kanji for month 月 is also for "Monday" and kanji for day 日 is also for "Sunday." Examine the following aspects of kanji in the chart below.
- How does it look? Can you associate an image?
- What is the main Japanese reading or Chinese reading?
- What is the basic meaning of the Kanji?
Now let's look at the calendar one more time. Can you read all the days of the week?
If you have trouble memorizing, sing the days of the week like below.

Satake-san wants to know how Ueda-san's weekend went. Let's have another dialog practice as Satake-san is talking to Ueda-san. Read each question aloud as Satake-san, and click on the sound and listen to Ueda-san's answers. After you complete the activity with Ueda-san, answer the questions that follow about Ueda-san's choice.
