DAY: Overview
Daily Activities
Omedetoo! You are at the last module of Japanese I. Think about the time when you just started this course and the only Japanese phrases you knew were Konnichiwa and Sayoonara. By now you have learned so many phrases and the culture that you can be confident to survive in Japan. Survival language is the only surface of the beauty and the depth of Japanese language. There is much more to learn about the language, the people, and the culture. In this module, you will learn more verbs and how to use them in the present, future, and past tenses. You will also be introduced to the informal (plain) form of Japanese so you will learn to distinguish its differences from the formal speech.
Essential Questions:
- How do you tell what you did during your vacation?
- How do you change the verbs in the past tense?
- What are some of the verbs to use to talk about daily activities?
- How do you add the location of the event that took place to your conversation?
- How do you tell the times and the dates of events in the present and in the past?
- What are the kanji 月火水木金土日 and how do you use them?
- When do you use informal speech in Japanese?
