WZI: Introduction
Was ziehe ich an?
In this unit, you will begin by learning how to identify different articles of clothing in German including both their singular and plural forms. You will then learn how to conjugate and use several key verbs related to this vocabulary, such as the regular verb 'tragen' (to wear) and the separable verbs 'anziehen' and 'ausziehen' (to put on and take off). You will become familiar with how to use these separable prefix verbs. Additionally, you will learn how to form the future tense with any number of verbs by learning the conjugations of the verb 'werden' (will). You will learn about Christmas and the holiday season in German and how those traditions connect with our Christmas traditions here in the United States. You will also learn how to identify the subject and direct object of a sentence and, in so doing, how to differentiate between the nominative and accusative cases in German. You will also learn how to describe the clothes that you and others are wearing in both the nominative and accusative cases and learn how to decline adjectives in both cases as well as with definite and indefinite articles.
