In this module we will learn and practice expressions for describing daily weather conditions typical for all four seasons. Further, we will learn to express and convert temperatures on both the Celsius and Fahrenheit scales. Finally, we will examine how to describe different nationalities in German.

In this unit students will learn:

• Vocabulary related to weather.
• How to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius.
• How to form a basic declarative sentence with proper syntax/word order of verbs and adverbs.
• The months and seasons of the year.
• How birthdays are celebrated in Germany.
• Present tense of verbs haben, fahren and sprechen.
• Present tense of verbs wohnen, leben, kommen, liegen
• Question words wo, wohin, woher
• Names of countries in German
• Cultural aspects related to the Autobahn and current events in Germany.

Essential Questions:

• How do we describe the weather in German?
• How do you describe the word order in a basic German sentence?
• How do you describe the different times of the year in German and how birthdays are celebrated?
• How do we talk about nationality in German?
