EUT: Using Parts of the Day as Adverbs + Accusative Case Review

Using Parts of the Day as Adverbs + Accusative Case Review

Was isst/trinkst du morgens/zum Frühstuck, mittags/zum Mittagessen, nachmittags und abends/zum Abendessen?

Listen to Martina as she describes what she eats for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Notice how when a masculine noun is in the accusative case (meaning it serves as the direct object) the preceding article or pronoun takes an -en ending; thus der / ein Kaffee will change to den / einen Kaffee when acting as an accusative, direct object. For example:

  • Ich trinke morgens einen Kaffee.
