UM und AM

UM und AM are used to say at when speaking about time and on when referring to days of the week:

Um

• At + a specific time = um
  • Wann hast du Mathe?
    • When do you have math? 
  • Um 8:00.
    • At 8:00.

• • Um wieviel Uhr beginnt die Schule?
    • At what time does school begin?
  • Die Schule beginnt um sieben Uhr vierzig.

Am

• On + a specific day of the week = am
  • Wann hast du Musik?
    • When do you have music?
  • Am Montag.
    • On Monday.
