How might the experience of going to school in Germany be different from going to school in the US?

Please watch the presentation below for an introduction to the German school system. Both German and American students attend Kindergarten and elementary school (Grundschule), but the similarities essentially stop there. From the fifth grade onward, Germany's education system becomes quite varied and rather complex, so let's take a closer look and gain a better understanding of Schulen in Deutschland.
