Review Activities
Activity 1
You work in a very bad restaurant that doesn't have much to offer its customers. Respond to the following sentences by using the negative form of kein.
Remember to work out if your sentence will be in the nominative or accusative. Follow the example. Note that masculine der nouns used as direct objects will require keinen for the negation (but kein if the noun is nominative), while neuter / das nouns require kein, and both feminine and plural nouns will need keine:
- Ich möchte gern eine Portion Pommes Frites.
- I would like some french fries.
- Tut mir leid, ich habe keine Pommes Frites.
- I'm sorry, I don't have any french fries.
Try it: Which form of kein would you insert?
Activity 2
Imagine you are a waiter in a German restaurant. Listen to the five recordings of people ordering a German dish in a restaurant. After the waiter says, "Was bekommen Sie?" choose which item you heard ordered from the choice of three.
