Using nehmen (to take) - stem changing verb
Nehmen is another verb frequently used in ordering food or drink, but note that the word itself, unlike möchten, is not specifically polite unless we tag on bitte to the end of the request.
- Ich nehme eine Cola, bitte.
Like essen, nehmen is considered a stem changing verb. The stem vowel (usually the middle vowel of the stem, with stem being everything minus the -en ending of the infinitive verb) of the du and the er/sie/es forms changes from nehm- to nimm.
