Parallel Structure
Parallel structure means using the same word patterns to show that two or more ideas have the same level of importance.
Ex: The girls like to swim, cycling, and running. (Not Parallel—this is a mixture of gerunds with an infinitive phrase)
Ex: The girls like to swim, to cycle, and to bike (Parallel—all infinitive phrases)
Ex: The girls like swimming, cycling, and running. (Parallel—all gerunds)
