The Writing Process Overview - Review

Writing a well-supported, organized essay is a process. There are various steps that a writer should take in order to produce a proper essay. The steps of the writing process include:

  1. Pre-Writing: Includes crafting the thesis, brainstorming, and creating an outline
  2. Drafting: Includes creating a rough draft in order to revise and edit
  3. Revising: Includes using peers to carefully go through the essay line by line and correcting content and grammatical errors
  4. Proofreading: Includes using your own knowledge to go through your own paper and correct content and grammatical errors
  5. Publishing: Includes completing the final draft

MLA Format Review

Remember that MLA stands for Modern Language Association. In English courses, you will write all of your essays in what we call MLA format which is a set of formatting rules that you will follow as you set up your paper and cite your sources. Remember that you should have finished your chosen novel that you selected from the list provided by your teacher. If you have not finished your novel, you need to do so immediately as you will not be able to proceed with the components of your research without having completed your reading.
