Unrequited love has been a topic that many novels, poems, plays, and movies incorporate as themes in European literature. Unrequited means love that is one-sided or not reciprocated by one of the individuals. In this lesson, short stories and poetry will be the genres of literature revealing the theme of Unrequited Love.

Short Stories often serve as entertainment to people who have the opportunity to listen. Similar to many stories, the Irish short story stems from the tradition of oral storytelling.
About the Author
Oscar Wilde was an Irish writer and poet. He became one of London's most popular playwrights, and people know him mainly for his novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray.
