About APES

Please read the course description below.

High school AP Environmental Science (APES) is the equivalent of an introductory college course in environmental science. The goal of our course is to provide students with an understanding of the complex relationships in the natural world. Citizens must become more informed about science and the scientific process involved in gathering data about pollution, species extinction, resource depletion, energy use, and so on. Regardless of what the data tells us, if society is unwilling to accept the information or to make changes based on the data, we will not reach sustainability. So in order to become environmentally literate citizens, students will study the process, limitations, and function of science in society. Former students comment that this course opens their eyes and minds to what is happening both in the world and in their backyard. Finally, they learn to see both sides of an issue in order to make an informed opinion.
One person can make a profound difference in the world.
