Previously, you learned about the Principle of Overload and when to use it during a workout. In this microlesson, you will learn about The Principle of Progression. You would use this when your body is ready to progress to an increased level of exercise. You will learn about the Principle of Progression in this microlesson, how it can help you with your workouts and safety considerations.

Slow and steady wins the race.

As you work harder (overload), your body adapts. When your body becomes accustomed to your workouts, you need to use the Principle of Progression to increase the amount of work for improvement to occur. Make sure you slowly and progressively increase your workouts and don’t place too much overload on your body. You will also learn about the Principle of Specificity and how this will help you with your workouts.
