(FDD) Careers In Photography Lesson
Careers in Photography
You're Hired!
Think about all of the changes the medium of photography has gone through since its invention in 1813. From large plates that aren’t easily copied, to roll film, to color film, to digital cameras. Photographers have weathered many changes. In the past 20 years alone most photographers have transitioned from film to digital. That means new cameras, new workflows, new hardware (computers instead of a darkroom), and a whole host of other changes.
Having a career in photography can be difficult to define. Does that mean that you earn all of your income from photography? Or that you have had critical acclaim? Or perhaps that your work has been published in a magazine or shown in a gallery?
In this lesson, we will explore several areas of photography and what it can mean to have a career in each.
