How Did We Get Here?
Now that we’ve reviewed the elements and principles and practiced applying them to creating photographs it’s time to learn about the origins of photography. Just like you need to learn the rules before you break them, it’s important to know where the medium came from, where it’s been, to know where you can take it!
Have you ever seen something that has been bleached by the sun? Have you ever experienced an image projected from the outside world into a darkened room? These are the two most vital discoveries that led to the development of what we now know as photography.
The term Photography literally means drawing with light. The history of photography is all about developments and discoveries in ways to focus and record light.
As you watch the presentation below, pay special attention to the timeline of events! Photography has really come a long way!
