(CT) Movement and Migration Lesson
Movement and Migration Lesson
Moving right along to our next theme of the course, Movement, and Migration! Let us take a moment to reflect on the following questions. Why is movement necessary for survival? How can movement affect society? How can movement be good for one group but bad for another? How does migration affect society? All of these questions will be discussed as we look at different regions of the world through our course. It is important to realize that movement and migration have been happening since the beginning of time. Originally, groups moved due to the need for resources and in many regions, we will study, this is still true. In your life in the United States, many of us move due to jobs and employment opportunities. We will continue to look at the push and pull factors causing migration patterns.
What is Migration?
- To go from one country, region, or place to another.
- Move, resettle.
- To make such a move either once or repeatedly.
- Migrate is applied both to people or to animals that move from one region to another, especially periodically.
- The movement or migration of people affects all societies involved.
Migration Challenge
Take Away
As we move through our key regions, we will look at the plentiful reasons that migration and movement take place throughout the world. There are a variety of push and pull factors causing these migration patterns to develop and we will look closely at them in future modules.
