EU - Europe Module Overview
Europe
Introduction
In this module, we will examine the environmental and economic forces in modern Europe. We will explain how the location and availability of resources affect where people in Europe live, and how the unequal distribution of resources impacts trade in Europe. We will explain the presence, or absence of the factors of production in European countries, and how these factors of production influence the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. We will understand how the European countries are economically interrelated to provide for the needs of the European people through voluntary trade.
In this module, we will also take a trip and explore modern Europe. We will learn about European countries through map activities that will help us identify the locations, physical features, and waterways of Europe. We will learn about the diversity of European culture by examining different languages, religions, and cultures. We will investigate the impact of WWII in terms of the Holocaust, and study the origins of the Cold War and the rise of Superpowers in Europe. We will look at the collapse of the Soviet Union that led to the end of the Cold War and German reunification. We will further investigate the forms and organization structures of modern European governments and the purpose of the European Union. We will see how conflict and change in the 20th century impacts Europe in the 21st century.
