Introduction
With the advancement and expansion of the Internet and other technological advances, the opportunities for technology related crimes have become increasingly prevalent.
Technology and Internet related crimes are sometimes referred to as cybercrimes.
These crimes involve acts that destroy or interfere with the operation of a computer system. These crimes vary in severity and are committed by and against individuals, groups, businesses, corporations, and sometimes, even governments. In this microlesson, we will take a brief look at cybercrime and its impact on society.
Cybercrime
Cybercrime encompasses a wide extent of offenses. It is primarily acts directed against computers or computer network resources. A computer may be used in the commission of a crime, or a computer or computer system may be the target of the criminal activity. This type of crime has had huge implications on government security, economic prosperity, and public safety including individual safety and well-being.

With the Internet, there are no boundaries as to how far this criminal activity can go. Cybercrimes are apt to cause serious harm and pose great threats to victims worldwide. Unfortunately, as technology increases and advances, it also creates more opportunity for criminals to continue to commit these cybercrime.
