(BT) Environmental Technologies Lesson
Environmental Technologies Lesson
Introduction
Environmental problems occur in air, land and water due to neglect or ignorance. Industry, municipalities, and agriculture have learned through experience that sometimes tragic problems occur from harmful practices or release of toxic waste.
Environmental bioengineering addresses environment problems created by pollution or overuse of natural resources. Environmental biotechnology restores and maintains a sustainable environment that uses microorganisms for the control of wastes, remediation of polluted environments, and treatment of environmental biohazards

Traditional environmental and civil engineering provides for technologies and processes to manage civil infrastructures for water supply, waste disposal, and pollution controls. Environmental engineers work to maintain watershed water balance and safeguard it from pollution. Technologies and practices are applied for waterway protection through controlling soil erosion, reduction of sediment, water conservation, and improved water quality.
Water Infrastructure & Treatment
Water is needed in a society. Available water is needed for agriculture, material processing, energy generation, food preparation, and of course water is needed for all living things to live. Microorganisms and contaminants in drinking water can cause disease and eventual death. So adequate supply of clean water is a major public health issue.
